GRINDING WORKSHOP
A COFFEE CLASS DESIGNED FOR HOME BARISTAS & COFFEE PROFESSIONALS
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
The grinder, probably the most important tool/machine of all your coffee equipment.
When it comes to coffee equipment, grinders are the least favourite sibling. Everyone loves to talk about different brew methods. Everyone loves to discuss roasters and roasting techniques. But grinders don’t get anywhere near as much attention as they deserve.
In this workshop, we will focus on the importance of the grinder, from choosing the right grinder, setting the grinder, particle grind size to maintaining the grinder.
GRINDING WORKSHOP
A COFFEE CLASS DESIGNED FOR HOME BARISTAS & COFFEE PROFESSIONALS
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
Choosing the right grinder is just as important as choosing the right brew method. There are a lot of things to consider, from cost to burr and grind settings. And with the number of grinders on the market, the choice can seem intimidating.
Better grind - better coffee, it’s as simple as that...
The secret to great coffee lies in extraction. But what does this really mean? Well, it refers to the process of extracting the flavor and aroma compounds from your coffee beans into your hot water – and, in doing so, creating a delicious beverage.
However, not all flavor and aroma compounds are the same. Some add sweetness to your coffee, others bitterness; some add fruity notes and others astringency. And they all extract at different rates.
Grind size is one of the biggest factors in flavor when brewing coffee…. Exposing more surface area makes it easier for water to [extract more compounds] over the same period of time.” remember that consistency is crucial. If your grounds are different sizes, they will extract at different rates. The result? A lot of unpleasant flavors in the final cup, combined with difficulty replicating a good brew. Grinder quality matters. As you see, the grinder is crucial for brewing your perfect cup of Joe. So join this course to get to know about grinding coffee. We will be covering both espresso grinding and filter coffee grinding as well as cupping different grounds and brewing methods.
