From 1928 to 1970 the farm was run by a company named Herrera Hermanos y Compania Limitada, a company founded by Carlos Herrera Son’s, around 1970 the farm was inherited to Sara Herrera Dorion.
Today the farm is managed by Dona Herreras relatives Tomas and Andres Olivero.
GUATEMALA SHB - GENUINE ANTIGUA
Hot like cuban rhytm, spicy like cuban cigars and strong as Cuban rum.
This coffee is produced in the traditional manner (natural process) in the shade of the forest of the Sierra Maestra Mountains and is produced in small batches. All Cuban Serrano is hand-picked and produced in the main by small holders.
From a flavour point of view, our Cuban Serrano gives an intense fat flavour with a very sweet aroma. An initial sip will reveal the richness inherent in this coffee, whilst hiding behind that is a mild red fruit mouth feel which balances the flavour perfectly.
CUBA - SERRANO LAVADO SUPERIOUR
This Peruvian coffee comes from the centrally located in the Chanchamayo Valley, one of the country’s major growing regions. This area produces 40% of the country’s total crop. The farms belong to small producers with less than two hectares of land that generate around 3,000 lbs. of coffee per harvest. This coffee is shade grown at high altitudes in order to produce a denser bean and a more complex cup characteristic as a result of its slow maturation process. In addition, the producers have made a remarkable effort to produce a high quality bean by only using sustainable farming practices.
SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) specifies that the coffee was grown at an altitude above 1350 meters. This term is also synonymous with SHG/Strictly High Grown; this classification is higher than HB.
